From snowy to frosty...

Hello Everyone,
This is Andreas from Switzerland. I'm glad to be a part of this Team,
that has the chance to go to the southern part of Mongolia!
"It is almos that time", that we are about to enter this Cross Cultural
expirience for about three weeks! Life is exciting! I look forwart to
see a new part of the world and to be involved in some Missions work
in a different country. Right now, my Christmas here in Canada is very
snowy, here in Saskatatchewan, but I guess it is a good preparartion for
the cold clima in Mongola, were we will be living under very frosty conditions...
Dress code: "Sheep up" (wool, warm, good clothing, and so on...)

So close, we can TASTE it!

On Sunday, school was dismissed for the Christmas holidays, and everyone went their separate ways until early January. When we see each other again, it will not be for very long! We return on the 2, 3 or 4th to CLBI in Camrose, and then we leave to catch the plane on January 5th, early in the morning.
As far as last minute preparations are concerned, we are fairly sure everything is accounted for and we whope we won't be surprised by TOO many forgotten things when we arrive back at school in January. We will fly into Beijing, and spend a couple days there, hopefully making a stop at the Great Wall. Then we fly into UB (Ulaanbataar), Mongolia to spend a day or so with the JCS (Joint Christian Services) staff. Then we will fly (hopefully) into Bayakhongor to begin our work with the YWAM base there. It will be a blast! we are super excited for the whole thing. If there are any updates, we will let you know!
Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone!! And we'll talk to you in the New Year.
God Bless!

Oh dear.. its almost here! Kind of..

It seems like things are well underway for the preparation of Team Mongolia South. At CLBI this last weekend, we hosted our main fundraiser, called "Meatballs for Missions". We invited people all over Camrose and area to come and have a great meatball meal, cooked and served by the 2nd year class, with much help from Bernell Odegard and Dawn Issac. :) Thanks, guys! It was a success! We managed to raise just shy of $5,000. That is incredible. A huge thank you for all who turned out to support us in this! And for all who are praying for us. We are feeling your prayers, and we need them!
As for other plans that have changed since the last time we wrote, we have discovered that we will be spending about 3 1/2 days in Beijing, giving us more time to explore this wonderful culture and to spend some time being tourists, and still planning on going to the Great Wall of China. We are also planning on travelling as far as UlaanBaatar with the other Monglia Team, Team Erdenet. We will have so much fun travelling with our friends on this team! Check out their blogspot at "teamerdenetmongolia.blogspot.com".
When we arrive in UlaanBaatar, we will spend maybe a day there, and then travel 17 hours across the Gobi Desert in a van or bus. Talk about long drive with good scenery! I hope the terrain won't be too flat and lifeless. :)
Other than that, we will post more when we are closer to the day we are to leave. Please continue praying for us. Oh, and we will be sending out another updated prayer/info letter soon, for all those who are wondering!
Until next time, God Bless.

Up and running!

Welcome, family and friends, to Team Mongolia South's blogspot! Preparations are underway to get us to Bayankhongor, Mongolia. Please pray for us as things can get a little stressful trying to plan all this. Pray especially for our Captain Calvin Bailie as this time become stressful with the responsibilities of team leader. But remember to pray for the rest of the team too! Anika Nottveit, Andreas Schwitter and myself, Demara Wig, could all use your prayers. Thank you so much!!
We will try to keep you updated as much as possible as we continue our journey to Mongolia. Presently, we are planning to leave on the5th of January for Beijing, China. We will spend a couple days there, possibly hitting up the Great Wall of China, and then continue on to UlaanBaatar, Mongolia. Please pray for our trips to be safe and fun!
Until next time, God Bless.
